champagne cupcakes!
This past week was my sister's 30th birthday! Instead of just the typical yellow cake, I wanted to try something different. I found a recipe for champagne cupcakes and thought they would be perfect for this kind of celebration. Everyone seemed to enjoy them, so I figured I'd post the recipe here too! Enjoy :)
batter:
1 Box of super moist white
1 1/4 cups of champagne
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 whole eggs
frosting:
1/2 cup soften butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup champagne
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Girl's World
Last semester, I began taking some art classes. I've always been interested in art but never had the time to take any classes. Below is a final project in a 2D Design class. We had to draw anything of our chose in four different mediums; marker, color pencils, collage, and crayon. Like many young girls, when I was younger I used to play for hours with barbies. I wanted to do something fun and different so I went with this idea and here it is! Enjoy :)

Florence + The Machine
I am OBSESSED with the song "Dog Days are Over!" It's so catchy and for some reason so inspiring. To design for the Fashion Show this year or not? It's so difficult to decide. I would loooove too but me and a sewing machine aren't the best of friends. But then I think when am I ever going to have an opportunity like this again? College is almost over and so are many of these opportunities. More on this later. I'll just enjoy this song for now... :)

Big Apple
Sometimes I forget how close the city actually is from where I live until I take the time to go. I often feel that whether it be winter, spring, summer, or fall there is always a good time to go and enjoy it. Just last week I went with a friend and saw the Broadway show Promises, Promises staring Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes. We shopped around Times Square, (new Forever 21 has FOUR levels!) ate at a local pub (chicken pesto panini, yum!), and of course had Pinkberry! It was our lucky day, we went into Pinkberry only to find out that it was happy hour and the new watermelon flavor was half off! I'll hopefully be going once or twice more before I head back to school to stop at the Museum of Modern Art and Serendipity, which is delicious and has such a fun atmosphere. Anyway, here are some pictures from NYC that I have taken, enjoy! :)

M.I.A
I cannot believe how long it has been since my last post! Summer has most definitely caught up with me. Between the hustle and bustle of work, vacations, day trips, family and friends, I can't believe that I'll be heading up to school in just a few weeks for my last year of college!
The end of June was crazy with many graduation parties. Here are some cupcakes I made for three of my cousins and Tommy's brother who all graduated high school this year! I made just a basic yellow cupcake with homemade blue icing and yellow (their school colors) sprinkles! They were so simple to make and fun to decorate. Delivering them however, was a different story. It was so hot that day and I had to stop at three different locations with literally boxes of cupcakes. I almost felt like I was on a delivering run for the Cake Boss. I was so worried they were either going to melt (thank you AC) or fall off the seat. Luckily neither of the two occurred so that cupcake making was a success. I can't seem to find the recipe for the homemade icing but once I do I'll post it ASAP.
Sorry again for being MIA for a while! I'll be back soon!

Home Field Advantage
Just the other day, Tommy and I went to the NY Mets game verse San Diego. Little did we know we were in store for a great game. The first inning the Mets quickly let up one run. By the 7th inning Jose Reyes hit what seemed to be a home run however it had to be reviewed by the umpires. This took several minutes but luckily they determined that it WAS a homerun which tied the game up 1-1. The game went into 11th inning when Ike Davis (my new fave player!) blasted a home run and brought the Mets home, ending the game 2-1. As of Tuesday night the Mets have a home field record of 23-9, woo!

Only By the Night
Last night, my boyfriend Tommy and I went to see Kings of Leon in concert. It was such a last minute decision to go but we figured it would be a good time. It was both an outdoor and indoor event. Although, we were worried because there were torando warnings throughout the day but luckily we had indoor seats and they were SO much better than we thought! KOL came out about around 9pm to red fog and an abundant amount of white, green and red stage lights. I was thrilled because not only did they put on a great show but also played a few of my personal favorites, "Taper Jean Girl," "The Bucket," "Milk" and "Crawl." The band only played for about an hour and 20 minutes because the lead singer, Caleb Followill was complaining about a sore throat, so many people were bummed about that. However, I found out via Twitter that KOL just postponed their concert for tomorrow because Caleb apparently has a throat infection and doctors have advised him to take two or three days off. Let's see if they make it to Bonnaroo!

Rainbow Sprinkles
When I was younger I always looked forward to having a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with rainbow sprinkles after dinner. Often, I had to ask my parents how many more bites of vegetables or meat I needed to have to guarantee this after dinner dessert. Tonight was the first time in a while since I had this simple yet delicious treat. It tasted just as good as it did when I was younger, maybe better!
